ASCEND Leadership Retreat
The ASCEND Leadership Retreat took place July 12-15, 2019 at The Cedar Gate in Kingfisher, OK. This year, 25 young leaders, age 14-18, attended the four-day, over-night retreat. Young leaders heard from five prominent community members on topics such as legacy, significance vs. success, identifying your passions, and discipleship.
The retreat kicked off at The Main Event, where young leaders and their families heard from former NFL player, Ricky Brady. Young leaders heard from retreat resident speaker, Ron Harris, throughout the weekend. Ron is the founder of A Level Up, a nonprofit organization in Northwest Arkansas committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals by engaging, equipping, and empowering them to achieve their full potential. Other speakers included Crystal Heard, supporter of Shiloh Camp and Information Technology Professional, Tim Ulrich, founder and director of The Refuge OKC, and Emily Whitson, professional consultant.
While the retreat may be over, young leaders will continue to meet monthly throughout the year to grow in areas of leadership and spiritual maturity.
The ASCEND Leadership Program is designed to inspire, equip, and launch the next generation of leaders. Young leaders are taught servant leadership skills and principles, all while connecting leadership and their faith. Young leaders will be exposed to a wide range of community leaders and experiences to help broaden their leadership capacity and understanding.
